Anyone got a good caption?

Thank you to everyone for a good Winter session. The Spring session starts next week with some small changes to the schedule due to pool closures.

We still have some important water polo tournaments in May with Nationals for our 17U Girls, 15U Easterns and 13U Provincials and then we have a short burst of swimming activity to end the year with Petawawa, Boog-A-Loo, Regionals, Brockville, Festivals and then Belleville.

When it comes to setting water polo teams, it’s always good to familiarize yourself with the FAQ page of this website. The teams for the higher level tournaments, when there is a Provincial championship on the line, are put together by all the coaches so as to increase our odds of winning. The age of an athlete or how long they have been with the club is of little bearing to team selection. What is important is having that drive to win and being able to back that up in the pool with intelligent play. Athletes are always encouraged to reach out to their coaches to speak on what it takes to have that drive.

Fun night with Perth Stingrays – the final Boog-A-Loo of 2024

The Perth Stingrays, including the Insta-Famous Mini Rays, have been invited to our last Boog-A-Loo of the year happening on May 25th at Brewer.

All groups from WAVE are invited to attend.

The gala will start at 5:30 and end at 9:00 PM. From 5:30 to 7:00, all MINIs and JWBs will be racing. From 7 – 9:00 will be the older crew.

A sign-up sheet for volunteers will be circulated soon. Once again, the Lounge will be hopping with baked goods and pizza and possibly an auction or two. The money raised will be going to the Team Tournament Fund.

The theme for this Boog-a-loo is The Need for Speed.

A Meet Manager has been found

Thank you to Kai Szeto for stepping up to be WAVE’s Meet Manager next year.

Kai is tasked with WAVE hosting our own swim meets next season. This will be an arduous job that requires all of our support if we are to bring more competitive events for our athletes.

Upcoming meets

Sign up for these meets now –

Details are forthcoming about the meets in Brockville and Belleville.

We do have the Fireplace Room booked for the Friday night in Belleville from 5 – 9 PM so that the parents can hang out in relative comfort and then we can all get together after the racing for some pizza and milk shakes (although I am not sure how we can pull that off logistically).

Open Water

Open water season is almost upon us.  Registration for The Bring on the Bay swim is now open. Please enter WAVE as your team when you register.

Life is better in the water,

Coach Fraser
