Why Boys Need Competitive Water Polo?
Once our athletes graduate from Splash Polo and PLAY! Water Polo, they want something more, and mostly, they want competitive water polo. Capital Wave’s competitive program allows them to grow as competitive athletes and participate in various competitions. Coaches push and work the athletes to their abilities and promote the (LTAD) Long-Term Athlete Development model created by Water Polo Canada. At Capital Wave, athletes are able to compete at the U12, U14 , U16, U19, and Major League (senior) level. The competitive practices help shape the athletes into great shape physically and mentally. Our Olympic and international experienced coaches help athletes succeed and help them reach their goals. Some of the greatest benefits of participating in competitive water polo program are the life skills of time management, self-discipline, physical fitness and sportsmanship that athletes will learn.
Lastly, as athletes progress in the sport and get recognized Provincially and Nationally, grants and athlete support programs from the Ontario Athlete Assistance Program are available throughout the years.

The focus is on continuing to develop fundamental swimming and water polo skills, while learning simple game strategy and fitness required to succeed in competitive water polo. Graduates of PLAY! Polo are ideal for this program as they have the necessary fundamentals needed for this program. Upon invitation, an evaluation of the player’s current abilities and overall potential will first be performed by the head coach to ensure that the athlete is ready for the competitive program. Athlete’s in this level are able to play in regional, provincial, and national tournaments. The 12U/14U competitive program trains 3-4 times a week and includes dry land training. Our 12U/14U Semi Competitive group trains half as many times.
