Belleville

Congratulations to all the swimmers that went to Belleville this past weekend. There were some great results and lots of medals and ribbons! See the results here. And we set over 20 new club records at this meet! See the Club Records page for complete details.

The ribbons and the medals will be available at the morning swims next week.

Open Water

Weather permitting, I will be at Britannia (Kite Surfer’s beach at the end of the pier — not the main beach) at 8:00 AM on Canada Day. If there is heavy rain the day/night before, it is not safe to swim.

Children must be accompanied by an adult in a kayak, paddleboard or swimming alongside if they head outside of the small bay. The ratio should be no more than 4:1. A swim buoy is also required.

Here are the dates for the summer events. I recommend that first timers sign up for the shorter swims.

  • July 15 – Bring on the Bay Open Water 3K / 1.5K (SWIM) – Bring on the Bay (at registration select ‘WAVE Swim & Water Polo’ as your team)
  • August 12 – RiverKeeper Open Water 4K / 1.5K (SWIM) – Ottawa RiverKeeper (registration password is gowavego)

Summer Sizzler

There is a small swim meet outdoors at the Crestview Pool in Nepean on July 16. You can sign up here. Everyone will be doing four 50M swims and a 100 IM. E-Z-P-Z.

Summer Training

I hope everyone is looking forward to the Summer Training sessions at the RA. It will be hard work and you will be challenged, some come prepared.

Life’s always better in the water,

Coach Fraser
