A weekly update from Coach Rodrigo and Coach Fraser
We did not have a swim practice this week due to the Family Day holiday, but that’s not to say we weren’t busy.
A BIG THANK YOU to all the parents and siblings that signed up for the Timer’s clinic. We’ll be using your new found skills very soon for the Yellow & Blue 2: Electric Boogaloo gala on March 26th!
It’s full speed ahead on the water polo side of the Wave House.
We continue to work on our legs and our base position. We will be having a special session this coming weekend just on leg work. Stay tuned for details. Again, please watch this video with your athlete. The coaches will be following up with your athlete to ensure that they have watched it.
Be sure to have the schedule on hand to know when your child is playing and on what team. We know it was a little confusing for Week One, but everyone will be ready for Week Two this coming weekend.
The energy certainly was high at Ottawa U. We had quite the crowd up in the bleachers and they were a noisy bunch, supporting their teams with banners and cheers. Thank you all for coming out and supporting your athletes.
Our Head Coach Emeritus David Hart was most impressed with what he saw from the Junior Waves. David commented:
“A lot of the kids see the open water and are able to get to that open water quickly. That’s amazing to see at such an early stage. It’s hard to imagine that most of our athletes are new to the sport — they display a lot of confidence in the water.”
Please use the club calendar as the best way to know your athletes’ practice schedule.
The March Madness Tournament is a GO. We will have several teams aged 11U up to 15U. Teams will be playing on Saturday and/or Sunday so the recommendation is to book a hotel room for Saturday night. If you are interested in being part of the block, please let Lisa know ASAP. We are still waiting for more information from the hosting club and the budgets are being worked out. More information to follow!
Lastly, let the coaches know of any absences at firstname.lastname@example.org. It is important so they can plan ahead.
