A weekly update from Coach Rodrigo and Coach Fraser
It’s a great feeling to be back in the water. We’re all a little rusty, even the coaches, but it won’t take us long to bounce back.
We introduced the Individual Medley (I.M.) to our athletes this week during swimming. The IM is a race that includes all four strokes in the order of butterfly, back, breast and free. It’s a tiring event but a very exciting race as most swimmers have differing degrees of strength in the strokes.
We will be hosting a timers clinic in the next few weeks for parents that would like to have THE BEST SEAT in the house during swim meets. If you’re a timer, you are not only participating in the meet, you have the best viewpoint to see your swimmer race. Your technically not allowed to cheer them on, but I know I’ve been guilty of little out a little “Whoop!” in the past. The clinic is very short and should be considered a start to your volunteer journey!
We’re also looking at opportunities to race and to play with other clubs, stay tuned!
A few reminders
- Label your equipment! Coach Fraser will have a white marker at practices.
- Every athlete must have their necessary equipment at all practices. Consider getting a mesh bag so that your swimmer can bring all equipment to the pool deck.
- Lastly, let the coaches know of any absences at email@example.com. It is important so they can plan ahead.
