Congratulations to our 11U Team – Bronze Medal Winners
The Junior Wave program continues to collect medals at tournaments. Two tournaments, two medals! Well done!
We learned a lot this past weekend in Toronto — how to play as a team, how to support each other through the highs and lows, how to take care of yourself at a tournament, and, most importantly to listen to your coach!
WAVE played with such great heart and intensity, it was an honour to be a part of the experience. Now, on to the next challenge!
Swimming
We are making some great progress with our swimmers’ breathing techniques. The body goes where the head goes, so it’s very important to keep our breathes short and efficient and to release all air under the water. We are working on our body rotation this week, which goes hand-in-hand with our breathing. You can’t roll too much or you end up staring at the ceiling of the pool and losing all momentum. We have to rotate just enough so that we are not ploughing through the water with both shoulders in the water. It’s a delicate balance and one that are swimmers are starting to appreciate.
We are still working on getting into swim meets. The swim meet that we had to hoped to get to at the end of April is now a non-starter. We are still hopeful to have a swim meet with SWOTT (Swim Ottawa) in early May and we have offered our pool time to help make this happen. We will keep you posted.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Hugo for not only having a great tournament but for his winning entry for last week’s contest. Hugo wins a bottle of Ribena. No contest this week.
