On a beautiful Sunday morning the WAVE athletes and coaches took to the open water to compete in the 1.5 and 4K swims from Lac Deschenes Sailing Club in support of the Ottawa RiverKeeper.  You can read the Ottawa Citizen story here.

The results for the 4K are here.

The results for the 1.5K are here.

The two podium results are Charlie Anderson managed a 1st place finish for the 1.5K for all participants. Stanley took 2nd in the male 1.5K (no wetsuit). WELL DONE!

Luca, Jorge and Odin came 4th, 5th and 6th respectively in the male 1.5K (no wetsuit). AMAZING!

Skawennahawi came 4th in the female 1.5K (no wetsuit). STUNNING!

Noah M. got into the top ten for his division as well! GREAT JOB!

Katerina tackled the 1.5K head-on and with great perseverance finished the race with Coach Waneek as her support! CONGRATS TO BOTH!

In the 4K, Coach Fraser and Coach Griffin battled it out for 5th place. If only Griffin could swim straight!

The entire team was there to cheer on Teo as he came out of the water as he completed his 4K — without goggles and without having swum that kind of distance before. Teo embraced the challenge and swam hard until the end!

As the top fundraising team, our WAVE athletes won a night at Fright Fest at Saunders Farm. SPOOKY!

This was a great event for WAVE and we will build on our success for next year. Open water is great training and lots of fun!
